The Society of Consulting Marine Engineers and Ship Surveyors (SCMS) was founded in 1920 to provide a central organisation for Consulting Marine Engineers, Naval Architects and Ship Surveyors. It was intended by its founders that it should be an association of experienced and established professionals who would be committed to the pursuit of excellence in the execution of their professional expertise.

FEMAS is a federation of maritime associations which provides the European Union Commissioners with valid opinions and influence in maritime affairs such as transportation, qualifications and VAT. One of its key objectives is to foster the exercise of the highest quality of professional service in the field of maritime surveying.

The 360 Quality Association groups specialised reefer shipping lines and seaport terminals in the handling of reefer cargoes. The aim of the Association is to prevent damage to cargo and to control food safety hazards during the period the cargo is in custody of the shipping line and the terminal. Only approved inspection bodies can issue the 360 Quality label.

The Cyprus Master Mariners Association (CMMA) was formed in 1992 to gather together qualified and experienced Master Mariners on the island. It is active in all matters related to maritime safety and operations in Cyprus and enjoys close contact with local maritime bodies.
